SURELY, it must be seen that there is a real need in our community for homes for the elderly like Cravenside in Barnoldswick.
For most people it is not an easy decision to place a loved one in these homes. It is done after much thought and usually because there is no other option, when it has become clear that the person can no longer care for themselves or be cared for by a relative.
But once that decision is made, some measure of peace of mind is gained by the knowledge that our loved ones will be looked after in a safe and caring environment.
If the proposed closure of all those homes goes ahead, where will they end up? In hospitals, which we are told are already pushed to the limit?
Our elderly deserve better than this.
SHIRELY STOCKS, Barnoldswick.
