IT had been my intention to ask the Lancashire Evening Telegraph to campaign against the closures of so many homes for the elderly.
These old people deserve better than County Councillor Hazel Harding and her 'new thinking' of care, whereby old people are left 24 hours a day, lonely, unable to cope, visited perhaps by a district nurse or someone to help them dress, wash, etc.
What if you are 90, blind, deaf, a stroke patient, incontinent, lonely and forgetting to take medication? Need I go on?
Everyone would want to stay in their own homes as long as possible, but many just can not. The people making decisions have no idea -- we are at the mercy of uncaring, power-mad folk. It is absolutely unbelievable that all this goes on with a Labour government and Labour council.
The elderly, who make up the largest percentage of voters, will not forget come polling day.
Please let the homes' residents know that there are people who care and will fight for them.
