ONE rally in a day is most people's idea of hard work, but Warton's Stuart Newby managed to get through two tough courses.
Stuart and his navigator, Paul Holmberg, started at 6am on Saturday morning in a Group A Subaru Impreza as a course car on the famous Malcolm Wilson rally.
Almost 24 hours later, they celebrated not only completing but winning their second race, the Gordon Musgrave Memorial Rally.
The morning was spent in the Lake District Forests, ploughing through the snow in the Malcolm Wilson race, finally finishing the last stage at 5pm.
Stuart and Paul then swapped cars into the Group N Road Rally Subaru Impreza and arrived at rally headquarters in Chorley, where they were the first car to hit the 150-mile route at 11.45pm.
The rally took in some of the most challenging routes around Preston and Garstang before the refuelling stop at Forton Services, followed by further stages in the Trough of Bowland.
Stuart said: "We had a thoroughly enjoyable night with no problems and were on the pace for the word go - this was possibly due to the fact we had spent the day in a Group A Subaru plain the snow on the Malcolm Wilson."
Stuart and Paul eventually made it back to Chorley at 5.30am to discover that they had taken first place to maintain their challenge for the ANWCC road rally championship, which they hope to retain.
Stuart and Paul are in action again this weekend when they take part in the Moonbeam Rally, organised by Telford Auto Club.
