A TEENAGER had his coat and a chain stolen by three thugs while a gang of other youths looked on.
The 16-year-old victim and his brother were on Townley Street, Morecambe when they were approached by a group of teenagers.
A discussion followed about who owned the boy's coat and the victim was punched in the back of the head.
He and his brother ran off, but two or three of the men continued punching him in the head and face.
Eventually, they grabbed the boy's jacket and pulled it over his head, also stealing a chain in the process.
The attack took place between 6.40pm and 6.50pm on Monday night.
Stolen were a sandy coloured, Timberland waterproof jacket with black lining, worth £60, and a gold chain necklace, worth £150.
A group of eight people were present, although only two or three people were involved in the attack.
The first is described as male, white, 5ft 10in tall, of slim build.
He wore dark trousers and a dark hooded jumper.
The second attacker was taller than the first and wore an unzipped, light coloured, hooded jacket.
Det Sgt Mark Salisbury of Morecambe police said: "I would expect people to be in this area at this time.
If they saw a group of young males in this area and are able to assist with this inquiry into what is a very serious crime please contact police at Morecambe."
