CLASSIC 1 scored eight points from their home fixture against Lancashire Health and Racquets.
Mike Howard was outrun and lost 3-0. Howard Thornley fared better and was much more in contention, but still went down 3-1.
Graham Collier and Tod Bulmer started slowly, but both their matches followed similar patterns of being well down early on but staging a late comeback only to fall in the fifth game. Mark Taylor delivered a performance of ferocious determination, which was by far one of his best in arguably his entire Classic team career to snatch a heroic victory 10-9 in the final game.
Classic 2 scored a 3-2 victory away to Cheetham Hill 4.
Vic Moses, Dave Haines and Lynda Gregory had hard fought five setters, all achieving satisfying wins. Bob Morgan lost 3-1 in his first team match after a lengthy recuperation period from injury. Gordon Bailey also lost 3-1. A good close match giving Classic 2 16 points.
