POLICE in Bury are hunting a hit-run driver after an elderly pedestrian was left lying in the road outside Fairfield General Hospital this morning.
The incident occurred shortly after 8.30am when a black Toyota Corolla driven by an Asian male was in collision with a 65-year-old old man from Bury as he crossed Rochdale Old Road.
The victim is currently being treated at the hospital for serious head injuries.
The Toyota was later found abandoned with windscreen damage on Cedar Street shortly after the incident.
Road closures around the hospital are now in place to accommodate accident investigation officers.
Bamford Road westbound is closed and Traffic is being diverted eastbound at Willow Street. Parsonage Street has also been closed.
