A GARY Renshaw goal on 70 minutes saw bottom of the Division One table AFC Limelight pull off one of the shocks of the season.
The goal sealed a 1-0 Carl Brown Memorial Trophy quarter-final win at table-toppers and championship favourites Kersal Vale who are unbeaten in 12 league games to date.
Interestingly the two clash again on Saturday in the league with Limelight having home advantage.
In the quarter-finals of the Sharman Cup, Courts stormed into a three goal interval lead but had to hang on desperately in the second half to beat Fir Tree Rangers Reserves 3-2.
Craig Sweeney on 22 minutes and a Warren Higham double on 27 and 28 had the second in the Division Two table side purring along but the home team hit back through Jason Rogers on 55 and John McNally on 66 minutes.
In Division One, two goals from Jason Carson and one each from Craig Faulkner and Paul Banks saw Leigh Avenue run out 4-1 winners after David Gornall had given Fir Tree Rangers a first minute lead. Rob Houghton on 15 minutes and Wayne Hampson five minutes before the interval saw Atherton Royal win 2-1 at Concert Inn in Division Two, Martin Winstanley replying on 55 minutes.
