IN the Air Miles Manchester League Premier Division, Leigh Athletic spurned the chance to go top when New Mills returned to Derbyshire with all three points thanks to a 3-2 win.
The Millers were 3-0 up in no time through Dave Morgan, Mike Donnelly and Stacey Wild, but Leigh pulled one back through Neil Sumner before the break, though it was late on when Gordon Walker added to this with the Latics' second from the penalty spot.
Elton Fold climb to fifth place courtesy of a late rally as they edged past an unlucky Pennington side 3-1, a result which leaves the Leigh outfit with a mountain to climb to avoid finishing bottom.
Paul Owen put Fold ahead in the first half, but Carl Caffrey equalised late on to grab a lifeline for the visitors, but Owen added his second with time running out, to take his tally to 21, and Stefan Smith also scored to see Elton home.
It was a more one-sided affair at Hindsford where the Tonics booked their first ever AIR MILES Manchester League final with a 7-0 win over Tintwistle Villa.
Villa kept the home side to a 2-0 lead by half-time, but Hindsford ran away with it from the restart, Neil Critchley and Matt Toone hitting a brace of goals apiece with Simon Hampson, Johnny Morris and Chris Jolley also scoring.
