LEIGH Centurions' Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Challenge Cup quarter-final tie with borough neighbours Wigan Warriors at Hilton Park on Sunday will be a 10,000 sell-out writes Mike Hulme
Leigh sold out their allocation of almost 5,500 in under two days, leaving many fans ticket-less.
All Leigh's remaining tickets were sold on Saturday morning after first going up for sale on Thursday. Wigan's remaining tickets from their 4,500 allocation were expected to be snapped up quickly to give Leigh their biggest gate since their championship winning season 20 years ago.
On police advice, Sunday's crowd will be segregated and there will be no changing of ends at half time.
Leigh chairman Mike Nolan is delighted at the response. He says: "We might not be in Super League at the moment, but what it does show is that if we ever do get there, we have the supporter base.
"There were huge queues at the ground on Saturday morning. It's the kind of thing that puts a lump in your throat."
One of the early birds in the queue on Saturday were Leigh exiles Jayne Coward and son Ben (9) who travelled from Oldham to snap up their tickets so they could cheer on Paul Terzis' boys.
