THE owner of a troubled take-away has locked up his premises for good and vowed never to return after it was smashed up and staff were left terrified.

Fajjadur Rahman-Ullah, 29, from Stoneyholme, Burnley, has run Surma Tandoori in Burnley Road, Bacup, for six months after spending more than £10,000 on refurbishments.

Fajjadur, his disabled brother Habibur, 28, his employee Suna Miah and friend Dabraj Roy, both in their 30s, were all in the take-away when it was damaged.

Habibur, also from Stoneyholme, is in a wheelchair.

He said: "My brother was busy so I went up with my friend to help him. I was terrified and felt helpless. I could not do anything about it."

He said a crowd of youths had been causing problems at the shop and Habibur had been struck on the head with a bottle.

Fajjadur said: "We were all really frightened by what was Police inspector David Robinson said: "In Bacup we have the lowest number of violent crimes in the division and we have the highest detection rate for violent crime in the division.

"We have initiatives linked specifically to the activities of certain individuals who are committing anti-social behaviour, juvenile nuisance and crime and we have two ASBOs pending. Recently there has been a significant reduction in these kind of incidents."

"We have arrested three people, two juveniles and an adult aged 18 from the local estate and they have been charged with violent disorder and bailed with strict conditions to appear before the youth court and Rossendale Magistrates. We are still looking for a fourth person."
