A GRAND day out can be had by all in the run-up to the Easter holidays with lots of egg-citing events in store for all the family.
Children at Lostock Hall County Primary are making a cracking start to the annual Easter fun tomorrow (Friday) with a bonnet and egg competition at their Lindon Drive school from 6pm to 7.30pm. Admission is free and there will be stalls and face painting to keep everyone amused as well as prizes for the best bonnets and eggs.
This time of year always gets Preston folk rollin' round Avenham Park -- eager to take part in the Easter egg rolling event on April Fool's Day, Monday April 1, from 10am to 4pm.
The day will be offering the traditional of egg rolling along side the return of Zambura - the 30 strong Samba band - back by popular demand.
Councillor Veronica Afrin, Portfolio Holder, Leisure Services Committee, said: "I am delighted that the council is again organising this spectacular free family event for the benefit of the local residents and visitors to Preston." And for brass lovers there will be music from Brindle Brass Band and the Lazy River Jazz Band as well as Punch and Judy shows and a children's fun-fair for the youngsters.
Preston Mayor, councillor Alan Hackett, and his wife Joan, will be on hand to judge the best Easter bonnets at 2pm on the park.
For South Ribble Borough Council are determined to keep people fit and healthy this Easter and have organised a five-mile Easter ramble, on Saturday March 30, starting at 1pm, from the sports pavilion car park, Moss Side Way, Leyland.
