SEALING a brighter and more prosperous future!

That's insulations company Mayplas which has leased and moved into a massive 39,900 sq ft prime factory-warehouse at the newly-regenerated Peel Mills in Bury.

And the transfer has allowed the business to centralise all its manufacturing operations under the one roof.

Mayplas, part of the Sheffield Insulations Group, had previously occupied three separate sites.

Two were located at Littleborough and the third at the old stone building which had previously characterised Peel Mills.

The giant factory-warehouse, which will be used as a new factory and production facility for Mayplas, is the jewel in the crown of site owners Saville Gordon Estates Plc's £1 million investment.

Mayplas sales director Mr James Carter explained: "Effectively, the move brings three sites into one. Our 70-strong workforce will now all be based in Bury.

"The transfer went relatively smoothly but it took a lot of planning. We haven't got the signage yet and we're still awaiting various bits of equipment."

Mr Carter added: "We wanted to move to one of the two areas we were already in. We selected Bury because we couldn't find suitable premises in Littleborough."

Mayplas is an insulations convertor, the wholly-owned manufacturing subsidiary of Sheffield Insulations, and has an extensive in-house product range.

Customers include those involved in construction, heating and ventilation, plumbing and builders merchants and DIY retail outlets.

Mr Carter is confident the move to the new factory-warehouse at Peel Mills will pave the way for the company to expand.

"The transfer means we have all our production on one site as well as our transport. There will be efficiencies given that, in effect, we have everybody in one place."

Commenting on the future, he went on: "We expect to grow. We were bulging at the seams in our old properties but now we have the opportunity to expand.

"There will be a period during which we'll see how things work out. But because of the overheads of this large new building, we will be endeavouring to increase our sales."

Paul Nolan, whose Bury company acted as agents for the site owners and negotiated the transaction, said: "This letting is testimony to the confidence of Saville Gordon in their industrial estate.

"Since buying the Peel Industrial Estate and Peel Mills from Peel Investments, they have invested substantial amounts of money which has led to the development of 12 new units in all, amounting to more than 60,000 sq ft."

The factory-warehouse unit was effectively let on completion at the asking rental price of £4.25p per sq ft.

Graham Barker, Saville Gordon regional manager, commented: "We were confident as a company that there was, and still is, a shortage of quality industrial accommodation in Bury. And we are pleased that our confidence in the area has been rewarded."
