LOCAL badminton starlet Tom Dunlop has had a hectic, but successful, international schedule over the past few months.
In December, the 15-year-old Tottington High School pupil competed in an international tournament in Hoensbrook, Holland.
This was one of the major European tournaments of the season and Tom came up trumps, taking gold in the singles.
He followed-up that success by competing for England at under-17 level -- two years above his age group -- against Scotland, Ireland and Wales.
England took the team title, while Tom did superbly well to win the mixed doubles gold medal and a bronze in the singles.
Three weeks ago he competed in the Eight Nations tournament which is the premier team competition in Europe, helping England to second place behind Denmark.
In the individual tournament he won a silver in the singles, losing in the final to Jorgensen of Denmark, and in doing so he has firmly established himself as number two in the singles.
To underline his good form, he has since competed in the English national under-15 championships and is now a double national champion. He won both the singles and doubles titles, only losing in the semi-finals of the mixed.
