GREAT HARWOOD boss Denis Underwood says he is not setting his side any targets in their fight for survival in NWCL Division One.

The Showground side entertain Newcastle Town at home tomorrow desperate for the points as they battle against the drop.

And Underwood knows what his side need - more potency up front.

"We have struggled all season for goals, the goals for column doesn't lie and it doesn't make good reading.

"Graham Lightbown has scored 16 goals this season but the next top scorer after that has three and then there are some twos and ones," he said.

"Martin Horsfield was back in training on Tuesday night and he was knocking goals in for fun but he will not be fit for tomorrow.

"He has only played half an hour all season after a knee operation."

Underwood has been under fire from a certain section of the Harwood crowd but was given public backing by chairman Bill Holden in yesterday's Lancashire Evening Telegraph.

He said: "I am not setting any targets for safety yet but we have to get back in the frame.

"When it gets to about six games to go we will know more about what we have to do.

"There is a gap opening up between third from bottom and fourth from bottom but some are dropping quickly, like Glossop and Atherton.

"We have to pick up wins to get within six or seven points of them and then when we play them we can close the gap.

"We know what we have to do and that we have to do it quickly. I really wanted the Skelmersdale game to be on on Monday because they are going through a bad spell but now we have Newcastle, Maine Road and Glossop coming up and we have to pick up wins along the way.
