WE are writing to complain about Fylde Council planning committee's decision to pass a proposal for the development of an offensive car park off Park View Road in Lytham.

We, as residents, are abhorrent at the council's hand in glove attitude with the AXA/Aegon consortium and it's neglective and superficial treatment of local residents who have objected strongly to the proposals.

Not only is the council weak but it procrastinated in meeting with residents needs and problem resolution. I refer to the ongoing parking situation on Brookfield Terrace and adjoining area and the dilapidated fencing that runs along Station Road opposite AXA. Even with parking provision the council has yet to protect the residents from car park overflow and convenience parking!

We do NOT want a car park with the inherent congestion and pollution that it brings; and we believe this decision contravenes government legislation to reduce the dependency on the car. This proposal is thoughtless and lacks imaginative integration into what is after all a highly residential area.

We also bring into question the locality of the development, when quite obviously the provision is being made to service the needs of non-local people -- hence the car park developments.

We request that this decision be reviewed forthwith and treated as if the planning committee were themselves local residents. Then, and only then will a consensus be reached on a satisfactory solution.

Robin Whitfield & Sally Roberts,

Representatives of the Brookfield Terrace Residents Association,

Lytham.
