PRESTON will not be rushed into getting a new manager, the club has insisted.

Kelham O'Hanlon and Jimmy Lumsden have been put in charge of affairs ahead of Sunday's game against Burnley.

But North End have not ruled out losing them too. Moyes is believed to realise how important his backroom team have been.

Tony Scholes, chief executive, said: "We have reached an agreement with Everton that any approach will come through us and it will not happen unless we want it to."

North End, however, will not be rushed into picking Moyes' replacement.

They have confirmed CVs have already arrived at the club, but stability seems to be the key at such a critical stage of the season.

Sunday's result could have a massive bearing on the decision when to appoint.

Anything less than three points will effectively kill off North End's promotion hopes.

Scholes added: "Sunday is our priority. Kelham and Jimmy have been key members of our successful back room team and I am sure they can lead the line for us in this vital fixture. They will be taking training tomorrow and be in charge of team selection for Sunday."

He added: "I have spoken to skipper Sean Gregan and the lads are upbeat and focused on the game."

Acting chairman Derek Shaw said: "We will appoint when the time is right. We are eigth in this division and we expect to get a lot of interest in the post."

Both O'Hanlon and Lumsden are expected to apply for the job.
