I AM aware of the proposals to close St Paul's C of E aided primary school in Ramsbottom.
My contact with this school continues through my children to my grandchildren attending this small and friendly school. I am aware of the falling birth rate figures, but Ramsbottom is still a growing town with lots of recent housing.
A Church of England school has a growing role to play in Ramsbottom, particularly in today's society with its yob culture. The church is actively involved, providing support within the school day and during extra-curricular activities.
Over the years, St Paul's has always worked hard for its pupils, past and present, and despite adverse reports from Ofsted in the past two years, the pupils and parents have stood by the school. Through the hard work of all the staff, a successful change has been brought about.
This school deserves support against closure, as it did back in 1982 when I was one of the parents. We won then and we will win again.
MRS J. DAVIES,
Bolton.
