This week, with KATH MARAH, chairman of Darwen Football Club
KATH has been chairman of Darwen Football Club for eight years, and on the rare occasions she can drag herself away from the ground, she likes to head to the wilds of Beacon Fell, between Longridge and Garstang.
She and her husband Bill try and snatch a few hours together walking and enjoy being surrounded by nature.
"I live on the coast and all you get at the coast are seagulls and tourists," she said.
"When we get the chance we drive out on a Sunday afternoon to Beacon Fell, where there is a tourist information six-space car park.
"We park up and take some of the most wonderful walks. It is reasonably bleak but there are wonderful views and it doesn't matter whether you go in winter or summer.
It is not too hilly -- I'm not into these strenuous hill climbs -- and you can see different types of wildlife at different types of the year, hares and rabbits scurrying across the paths.
"It is peaceful and gives you time to think. We have always walked and when our son David was small we used to take him to places like this.
"He's now at Warwick University and he still enjoys walking -- he says it gives him time to clear his thoughts."
