A 14-year-old girl who spent a night in police cells after being arrested for stealing a pork pie has had an existing referral order extended by three months.
Blackburn youth court heard that the girl was arrested in theTesco 24-hour store in Hill Street at 2am after walking out without paying for the pie.
Jonathon Taylor, defending, said the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was in the store with friends and had initially gone to pay for the pie.
"Her friends said they were leaving and encouraged her to do the same," said Mr Taylor.
A referral order is made against youngsters and they are placed under supervision of a youth team who try to ensure there is no repeat offending.
