SKATEBOARDERS and roller skaters were asked what they want in a skate park to get them out of Burnley town centre.
A public meeting was called by Buckinghamshire company Tribe Enterprises, a consultancy firm brought in by Burnley to try to find a solution to skaters using the town centre.
They met at the bandstand and from there went to a public meeting at Burnley Business Centre where more than 50 skaters were given questionnaires to fill out and completed ones were put into a draw to win a voucher for town centre store East Village.
Assistant town centre manager Ian Stackhouse said: "Tribe specialise in sorting out problems where skaters are using the town centre. They look to create a skate park in a location and with the facilities that the skaters want.
"We met at the bandstand because that is where the skaters use. Town centre manager Lisa Durkin talked to the skaters to explain the problems about them using the bandstand and encouraged them to use it when it is quiet and there are not many shoppers around."
Questionnaires are available at East Village and they can also be returned there.
Ian said there is already some funding allocated for a skate park, but more would have to be secured.
Tribe is planning to hold a weekend event for skaters in Towneley High School in May.
