BURY'S delight at their High Court cash reprieve didn't last too long down on the South Coast where Brighton swept into a 2-0 half-time lead.
Player manager Andy Preece gave them a lifeline when he pulled one back on 68 minutes but it was not enough.
It looked as though Junior Lewis had given Brighton the lead after 21 minutes, but the goal was later credited as an own goal to Patrick Kenny.
Shakers' Danny Swailes was sent off for violent conduct and then top scorer Bobby Zamora converted a penalty to complete the scoring in the final minute of the half.
