FIREFIGHTERS from Rawtenstall went on a 'wild goose chase' with an RSPCA inspector after a goose got a bit flighty in Whitewell Bottom.
The crews were called to assist the RSPCA in helping the goose off a roof at Lambert Howarth's distribution warehouse in Burnley Road East at 12.11pm yesterday.
Sub Officer Nigel Boden said: "The goose is owned by someone who lives nearby and it appears it got a bit flighty and was carried up there by the strong winds.
"It had been there for a couple of days, but when we put a ladder up and a firefighter went on to the roof it jumped off into a neighbouring garden."
The fire crew left the RSPCA to safely reunite owner and bird was none the worse for the ordeal.
