SIMON Svabic's dislocated and fractured finger is unlikely to keep him out of tomorrow's 'Battle of the Borough'.
The Centurions' stand-off star gave Leigh a few anxious days before coach Paul Terzis was able to declare that Svabic was '99 per cent certain' to line up against Wigan.
But there will be no place in the side for consistent prop Paul Norman, who has been given the shattering news that damaged medial ligaments in his right knee will mean and eight week lay-off.
Svabic lasted just 18 minutes before coming off against Workington last Sunday and afterwards went to hospital for an x-ray on his damaged finger.
"He dislocated the top joint but fortunately there was only a hairline fracture," says Terzis. "He's been able to train this week with the finger splinted and taped and if there's no reaction, he'll play."
But Terzis was disappointed with the medical news that he'd lost Norman for the next two months.
Norman, whose injury time try in the last round put Leigh into the Challenge Cup quarter-final blockbuster with Wigan, damaged his knee last weekend. "The lad's worked tremendously hard to make himself a valued member of the squad. We're all sad to lose him for the next couple of months."
But the seven senior squad members who didn't figure against Workington - Baldwin, Anderson, Bradbury, Morley, Turley, Irwin and Ball - are all back in contention. But Sanderson is out long-term and Knox cup tied.
Terzis won't name his side until an hour before the game but said that Wigan hold no fears for his team.
"In fact it makes a nice change for the pressure to be off us for a change. We usually got into games as favourites, underdogs will be nice on Sunday," he says.
"Of course we respect Wigan as one of the best club sides in the world but we are determined to make the most out of the day and send a loud and clear message to the rest of the game that Leigh are ready for Super League.
"Wigan might have Test players all across the park, but have they got the enthusiasm, passion and sheer determination that my side will have? We'll find out come 4.30pm on Sunday."
