ROSSENDALE residents are gearing up to hold a host of events to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee in style.
The borough will be showing its true red, white and blue colours with events planned in both May and the official celebration month, in June.
Rossphoto is a touring photographic exhibition which will be held during June and will feature photographs of Rossendale.
Entrants can submit two pictures from children, teens and adults.
The exhibition will also feature a CD with a range of images which will be shown as a slide show to run concurrently with the photographs.
Pictures are being collected from March until May at a cost of £1 per image. For an application form contact 01706 244678.
There will be an exhibition on May 31 at St James Church and on June 2 the village of Edenfield will be celebrating.
Also on June 2 Rossendale Search and Rescue Team is holding its annual Rossendale Way in a Day and combining the team's 40th birthday with the Queen's jubilee and a garden party will be held at St James' Church. On the extra bank holiday Bacup Pride Community Action Group is holding a street party on spare land off the Pennine Estate.
And Rossendale Carnival on June 23 is based on the theme of flying the flag to cover the jubilee and the commonwealth.
The Friends of Greenfield Memorial Gardens in Haslingden have received funding to put on a bowling competition and it is hoped to hold a historical pageant. A food and craft fair is proposed at Haslingden Community Link with the owner of Cronkshaw Farm in Helmshore Joy McCarthy and 1950s recipes.
