ATTEMPTS at an amicable ending to their relationship ended in acrimony between Cal Cottrell and his former partner.
Blackburn magistrates heard that he had thrown a glass of wine over her, spat at her and pushed her around.
And despite a threatening phone call being heard by a police officer who warned him to stop, Cottrell continued to harass Deborah Dakin.
Cottrell, 31, of Ridgeway Avenue, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to harassment. He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £65.
David Hartley, prosecuting, said the couple had split after living together for 18 months and at first had tried to remain friends.
"It didn't work out and there were numerous incidents prior to a number of phone calls in which he became abusive and threatening," said Mr Hartley.
"Miss Dakin became quite scared by his behaviour, which included calling at her home although he clearly was not welcome," said Mr Hartley.
John Greenwood, defending, said the offence had been committed during a period of emotional stress.
"He had given a great deal of commitment to the relationship over the past two years," said Mr Greenwood. "They split in January but both wanted to get back together.
"However, after they had parted the trust between them went. He accepts that the relationship is now well and truly over."
