POLICE were continuing to appeal for witnesses today after three people including a 15-year-old boy from Bury died in a head-on crash.
Arron Sean Croft from Windsor Avenue, Whitefield, was a front seat passenger in a white Ford Sierra which collided with a taxi in Prestwich in the early hours of yesterday.
The accident happened at about 1.15am on Bury Old Road, outside St Monica's RC School. The Sierra crashed into a Toyota Carina, a private hire taxi, being driven by Khalid Ejaz, aged 44, from Grange Avenue, Oldham, who died at the scene.
His female passenger Stella Shaw, aged 53, from Brookfields, Prestwich, was pronounced dead on arrival at North Manchester General Hospital.
Her 54-year-old husband is in a serious but stable condition in Hope Hospital, Salford.
The 18-year-old driver of the Sierra is in a critical condition at North Manchester General Hospital.
Fire crews had to use cutting equipment to free the people involved in the smash. Bury Old Road was closed for several hours while police carried out an investigation. Anyone who witnessed the incident should call Bury traffic police on 0161 856 8073.
