A DEDICATED group of singers from Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley are set to return by popular demand to a Clitheroe venue.

The A Capella Singers impressed audiences at Trinity Methodist Church so much that their concert on Saturday, entitled Music of Monarchs is already on its way to generating high ticket sales.

The group will perform Haydn's Maria Theresa Mass along with the well known, but seldom performed Four Coronation Anthems by Handel.

These anthems have been used at the coronation of monarchs in Westminster Abbey for many years and are being studied by local A-Level music students.

The concert begins at 7.30pm at the church in Parson Lane, Clitheroe, and will be conducted for the first time by the new director of music Chris Gill, who is currently the assistant music teacher at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Blackburn.

Using Trinity's own organ, the singers will also perform with Jack Longstaff, the former head of music at QEGS.

Admission is £4, £2.50 with concessions, and free for children under 12, and will include a programme. There are also free tickets for students, but these must be obtained in advance.

Tickets for music students will be available of the concert and can be obtained from the music departments at each local school.
