MEMBERS of a social club raised £3,200 for a cancer charity in memory of a friend who died from the disease.
The committee of Ineos Sports and Social Club, Darwen, staged a raffle and a concert to raise the money for Manchester's Christie Hospital.
Marlene Jones, a committee member, died from a rare soft tissue cancer last October aged 63.
Marlene's husband, Alan, also a committee member, said: "Everyone has been tremendous - their support is a tribute to Marlene.
"She had worked in sales for various companies in Darwen and was active in the social club, so a lot of people knew her."
There were 50 prizes up for grabs in the raffle, all of which were donated by local businesses.
