STANLEY striker Gary Williams is so far proving to be the answer to Rossendale's problems - and they hope he comes good again tonight at UniBond First Division leaders Harrogate.

Williams has been signed on a month's loan to solve the goal crisis at Dark Lane and he came up with the goods with a debut strike in Saturday's 1-1 draw with in-form Spennymoor.

More of the same is demanded tonight to get Dale back among the promotion contenders.

"Gary did really well," said boss Jim McCluskie. "He gave us a cutting edge up front, something we haven't had since Christmas, and just having him at the club has given everyone a boost.

"To attract someone of his calibre is really good for the club.

"It has made one or two players sit up and take notice and we were unlucky not to win. Gary could have had a couple.

"And Craig Sargeson linked up well with Gary after being left out last week. They looked a threat.

"It was like we were playing at the start of the season so obviously I am now looking forward to tonight."

Rossendale trail the league leaders by 21 points and second placed Radcliffe Borough by ten points - although Dale have three games in hand on Boro.

They currently lie five points off a play-off place and so a win tonight would be a huge boost for McCluskie's men.

The one downside is they have Paul Lynch suspended.

"He was a star for us on Saturday but we have young lads like Chris Clarke, Chris White and Chris Brookes coming through so they can make an impact.

"Harrogate beat us 2-1 earlier in the season - we were leading 1-0 with just five minutes to go - and they inflicted on us our first defeat of the season so we are ready for tonight."

In NWCL Division One, Ramsbottom welcome Abbey Hey to the Riverside while, in Division Two, Bacup are at home to Formby.
