MY mum is a resident at Worsley House, Fleetwood, and has been for six years. We have an action group and will fight these closures.
It is inhuman to put this kind of stress on our elderly. They have lived through wars, bringing up families, and worked hard. They did not have all the benefits that are taken for granted these days.
And how does the county council make them feel? -- a burden to the country they fought for. God help any of those councillors if they should ever need full-time care.
They say that the elderly prefer to stay in their homes. Who wouldn't? But there comes a time when for one reason or another they need 24 hour care and this cannot be offered in their homes.
If the Government are looking to keep more elderly in their homes then drastic changes are needed with the home care agencies.
I know from experience that some clients are put to bed at 7-8pm and they will not see another soul until the morning carer's visit.
It is a very inadequate service and I for one would not want my mother to be subjected to this. Would social services executive County Councillor Chris Cheetham?
