ROVERS target Valeri Karpin has indicated he is ready to walk out on Celta Vigo at the end of the season after claiming he's been singled out for abuse from certain sections of the Spanish club's crowd.
He was blamed as Celta let a two-goal lead slip before clinching a 3-2 win, Karpin silencing the critics with a stunning volley.
But the Russian international, whose contract runs out in June, was still angry with the supporters reaction 24 hours after the game - news the Rovers board will learn with interest.
Karpin told La Voz de Galicia newspaper: "I don't want to generalise but I don't understand the attitude of the public.
"I don't know what they want. We are fifth in the league; we have a good chance of qualifying for the Champions League and we've been up there all season.
"A couple of years ago everyone was saying how good we were. I don't know what they'd say about us if we were in the same situation as Las Palmas, Real Sociedad or down in the second division as we were not so long ago."
"I know it hurts to hear this but I always say what I think. Maybe there will be repercussions next time I play in Vigo, but I have assumed that already."
Rovers chief executive John Williams has already stated the club's interest, saying: "He is one of several players we have looked at, and he could become available on a Bosman at the end of the season.
"As an attacking midfielder who can also play as a striker he could provide several options."
