BEKI McGill's cheesy beany pastry has won the recognition of a pie company.
The 15-year-old pupil of Walshaw High School, Burnley is one of the ten finalists in the Holland's Pie 2002 pastry challenge.
Beki's winning dish consists of potato, beans and cheese was created with the guidance of food technology teacher Joan Henaghan and the competition itself fits in with the GCSE Food Technology curriculum.
The company asked its young competitors to create a recipe suitable for school dinners, which they would be confident other pupils would enjoy.
The overall winner will win £500's worth of catering equipment for their school, £100's worth of vouchers for themselves and be guest of honour at Holland's Pie company in Baxenden, Lancashire where they will work alongside staff on their creation.
The winning entry will be announced next month.
