POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an incident in which a customer at the Chicago Rock pub in Burnley town centre was hit on the forehead in a bottle attack.
The 22-year-old victim needed stitches in the wound and received treatment at Burnley General Hospital.
The incident happened shortly before midnight on Sunday as he was standing near to the bar in the downstairs room.
DC Rachel Waine said: "We don't know of any reason for the attack, it was so quick.
"The aggrieved was standing near to the bar when he was hit resulting in a gash to the forehead which needed stitches."
About 10 minutes after that incident a group of seven or eight young men were involved in a confrontation in the street outside the pub.
Two local men were arrested and were later charged with public order offences.
They were granted police bail to appear in court later.
DC Waine added: "We still don't know whether the incidents were related or not."
Police are studying cctv footage in relation to both incidents.
Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Waine or DC Vicki Evans on 01282 472144 or ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
