A FAMOUS couple are visiting the Preston Playhouse theatre.

Neil Simon's The Odd Couple has delighted audiences around the world since it was first written, and is now on its way to Preston thanks to local drama group the Grimsargh Players.

The play, made famous by the 1968 film starring the late, great, comedy duo of Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau, is one of the most popular comedy productions ever created.

The play tells the tale of old friends Oscar and Felix. Set in Oscar's untidy apartment in New York, a group of poker players meet up each week to play the game they love.

But one of them, Felix, has to move in with Oscar after he runs into trouble.

Oscar and Felix might be great friends around the poker table, but they have very different ideas on housekeeping and what constitutes gentlemanly conduct. This is not to be a marriage made in heaven.

Peter Van Parys, who plays loveable rogue Oscar, said: "The play is probably three quarters for adults, but the children should enjoy it too. It's a very funny play.

"We have been cracking up laughing doing this play. We've been doing three nights a week, and it's really good fun."

True to Neil Simon's original script, the play offers a laugh a minute, and nobody will be disappointed.
