ALMOST nine months of hard work on and off the pitch comes to a gripping climax next month at the Reebok Stadium when Charnock Richard and Atherton Collieries meet in the final of the fourth Goldline Trophy.
Bolton Wanderers and the Goldline committee have confirmed that battle will commence on Monday April 8 at 8pm, between the Whites' Premiership clashes with Ipswich and Tottenham Hotspur.
Charnock Richard will be hoping to emulate their feat of last year when they lifted the trophy after beating Tempest United.
But this year they will have to overcome a North Western Trains League outfit who are bidding to become the third Atherton side to win the competition. Previously Atherton LR and Manchester League side Pennington have taken the title.
Charnock have looked almost invincible throughout the competition, having strolled to the head of their initial group and also through their quarter-final after thumping Eagley 5-1.
Victory at the Lancashire FA ground against Hindsford took them through to the final while Colls muscled out Prestwich Heys in the other semi at Radcliffe Borough.
"It should be another night to remember," said Andy Whittle of the Goldline Committee.
"It's a good opportunity for both sides to play at a great venue and hopefully we can sell plenty of tickets to make it a memorable occasion."
Around 5,000 tickets for the event are available, priced at £2 each. They are available from the Bolton Evening News office and also from the Goldline ticket office. Contact Andy Whittle on 07905 447 954 for more information.
