A FRIGHTENED dog walker thought he would be attacked as another dog tried to bite the smaller animal.
Burnley Magistrates heard that the snarling dog, said to weigh about 8st, went "full pelt" at the walker, baring its teeth.
The walker was then confronted by a man who threatened to set the dog on him if he went that way again.
Mohammed Syed, of Highfield Avenue, Burnley, was fined £50 and ordered to keep the animal under control by Burnley Magistrates.
He admitted it was dangerously out of control in a public place in December last year.
Caroline Jones, prosecuting, said the animal, named Tyler, ran towards him showings its teeth.
Basil Dearing, defending, said Syed was not present when Tyler escaped. Tyler was normally kept well under control.
The defendant was concerned about it and had now got some extra fencing.
