ORGANISERS of a petition in support of the fight to keep Lancashire's care homes open have appealed for Baxenden residents to get involved if they feel strongly about the issue.
Members of the Baxenden Community Forum have organised a petition to fight the closures proposed by the county council.
They are especially concerned about the future of Hill Top care home in Baxenden, which is on the list of 35 homes earmarked for closure, 19 of which are in East Lancashire.
The closures are also the subject of a Lancashire Evening Telegraph campaign, Save Our Homes, which has been supported by hundreds of readers who are opposed to the plans.
Organisers in Baxenden hope to collect as many signatures as possible.
Anyone who would like to put their name down for the petition, should contact forum chair Bill Matthews on 01254 384000.
