A CLITHEROE cancer fund is coming to a close with a service of celebration and remembrance.
A Litany of Hope will take place at Trinity Methodist Church in Parson Lane, Clitheroe, on Sunday, April 21, at 7.30pm.
The service is for anyone affected by cancer in any way, either as a sufferer, survivor or bereaved, and is intended as an opportunity for celebration and reflection.
It will include prayers, hymns and readings, and there will be an opportunity for people to light candles of remembrance. Clitheroe violinist Gaynor Sutcliffe will perform and refereshments will be served.
The service has been organised by the Kenneth MacMillan Memorial Fund, which has raised over £6,000 for the East Lancs Hospice Appeal and the Clitheroe Arts Centre Project.
The fund was launched in memory of dad-of-two Ken, who died two years ago aged 37 from a rare form of stomach cancer, by former classmates at Ribblesdale High School, Clitheroe.
In accordance with the wishes of Ken's family, the service is open to anyone, regardless of religion, age or circumstances.
Organiser Jayne Parrington said: "Anyone who has been affected by cancer in any way is invited to attend. We hope the service will be a poignant memorial for Ken, as well as giving people the opportunity to share their experience, strength and hope in a meaningful way."
She thanked everyone who helped the fund-raisers break their £2,000 target.
