DEVELOPERS who removed the mechanism from a clock in Waterfoot are being asked to replace it.
Time has stood still at the clock on the former St James Church, Bacup Road, for several months.
The clock has been maintained at public expense but now the ownership of the church has changed the tenants and owners have approached the council to repair the clock and convert it to electric at a cost of £1,800.
Vice-chairman of the corporate services committee Coun Margaret Talukdar said: "I believe it is now in private ownership and they should put it back into working order."
