I MUST respond to the ridiculous letter from Evan Williams about the disturbance created by the police helicopter. (Citizen, March 14)
As a recent victim of crime I was assisted greatly by police who were able to apprehend the offenders by using the helicopter to help police on the ground.
Perhaps if it was Evan Williams' house that had been broken in to he would feel differently and would expect the entire 'circus' turning out in addition to the helicopter.
It makes common sense that the helicopter can cover vast acres of land at speed compared to bobbies on the ground.
I won't pretend that the police are perfect, but let's not knock them when we can see they are working hard.
This is a perfect example of them doing the job the public expects of them rather than sitting behind desks.
Mrs J Ronson, Cop Lane, Penwortham.
