NEW city status -- but the litter is still there!

Take a look around one of the only patches of green in the city centre bordered by Lancaster Road, Tithebarne Street, Lord Street and Crooked Lane.

This green square is the most disgusting and contaminated open place in the very heart of this new city of Preston.

In the centre of this green, grass square is a circle of shrubs, with one bench seat and no litter bin.

In and around the bushes are bottles, cans, waste food, paper, cigarette stubs, traffic cones, spent machines, syringes and needles on the ground beneath and on the bushes.

It would seem that all this litter and rubbish has been thrown in these bushes over many months.

If Preston town could not keep control of litter here, in the centre of 'Proud Preston', is not it now up to the new city to get it right, or what hope have we on the outskirts to have litter free residential suburbs in this once proud town.
