A LOOK at the junior rugby league scene.

Heysham Atoms U11s 20 Leyland Warriors 40

THE Warriors won their second game in succession in a game played in excellent spirit against an enthusiastic Atoms team. The Warriors raced into a 20-12 half-time lead. The highlight of the first half was Aaron Marshall's darting run. The Warriors kept up the momentum in the second half with another five tries. Seven different try scorers shared the ten touchdowns. Man of the Match was Aaron Marshal. Top tackler with 23 tackles was Danny Singleton and the most improved player was Stuart McLean.

Leigh Rangers U14s 30 Leyland Warriors 22

THE Warriors were left reflecting on what might have been after bowing out in this epic cup encounter. Facing probably the strongest side in the league, Leyland looked anything but underdogs for long periods of the match. Trailing 10-0 at one stage, the Warriors fought back with tries from Mark Quinn and Sam Leach and a conversion from Phil Campbell to even the scores at the break.

Despite falling behind again soon after the re-start, Leyland clawed back the deficit, even taking the lead for a while after the first of two second half scores from Michael Weardon and two further conversions from Campbell. But in a disastrous ten-minute spell, they conceded three quick-fire tries and the game was suddenly beyond their reach. Still they continued to battle back and were rewarded with a consolation score just before the final whistle.

Leyland Warriors U16s 10 Mayfield 42

DESPITE starting the match a man down and then losing two more to injuries the Warriors put on a superb team performance with end to end play throughout the match. The final score did not reflect the way of the play against a full strength Mayfield.

Every player put in tremendous effort both in defence and attack and battled on right to the last minute of the match. The Warriors tries coming from Jamie Jackson and Andrew Rhodes and a conversion from Tom Farrimond.

Man of the match went to Declan Mallon and runner up to Jamie Jackson. The top tackler award went to Lee Waller for his relentless attack on the opposition.
