A GOALKEEPER being sent off is hardly headline news these days but Sheffield United stopper Simon Tracey was all over the papers last weekend.

The 34-year-old was the first of the infamous three to see red at Bramall Lane last weekend against West Brom in the match that was abandoned as the home side was reduced to six men by injury.

There could be no complaints about his first half dismissal and so he watched from the sidelines as the drama unfolded.

Tomorrow's game will be Tracey's last before his suspension kicks in and he will be keen to sign off with a clean sheet.

That is something that has been in short supply for the Clarets loan keeper Marlon Beresford since he came back to Turf Moor.

Despite a series of top class displays in the Burnley goal he has only managed to record one shut-out, at bottom of the table Stockport County.

At the same time the only occasion he has conceded more than one was against West Brom on his "debut" when Jason Roberts scored twice.

So in 12 games he has conceded 12 goals, a total that would have been greater had he not been playing so well.

Nik Michopoulos is fit again but the former number one is having to bide his time and watch from the bench as Beresford rolls back the years with saves that remind fans of the six seasons when he was the first choice.
