LANCASTER City Football Club has begun recruiting for the new intake at its youth academy, run at Myerscough College.
Club bosses and Myerscough staff are delighted with the success of the academy, which combines football training with studying.
Succesful applicant will follow a two year programme covering everything from sports psychology to sports nutrition and academy as well as two days a week of coaching from UEFA qualified staff from Lancaster City.
Course tutor Paul Woodland said: " Parents are often worried about encouraging their children to pursue a career in football because so few make it to be professionals, but this course is a step to higher education and that is reassuring."
He added: "The course has proven over the last year to work extremely well, due to the combination of academic studies with the practical football coaching."
The minimum requirement for the course, as well as some footballing ability, is four GCSEs at grade C or above or a first diploma in a relevant subject.
Acceptance onto the course will be subject to interview.
Lancaster City Football Club is holding an open evening at The Dolly Blue Tavern, West Road, Lancaster, as an opportunity to meet the staff from Myerscough and club officials who help run the course on Wednesday, March 27th from 6.30 pm onwards.
