BLACKPOOL Police are appealing for witnesses of a road accident which left a pedal cyclist seriously injured to come forward.
Officers are still trying to identify the cyclist who was seriously injured in a collision with a blue S-reg Jaguar saloon on the eastbound carriageway of the A583 at Westby, near Blackpool on Wednesday (March 20) at 8.15pm.
Police are urging anyone who was travelling along the A583 between Peel Corner and Westby at around 7.30pm-8.15pm on Wednesday who may have seen the cyclist to get in touch.
A Lancashire Police spokesman described the cyclist as male, white, 5ft 9ins tall and wearing navy jogging bottoms and a navy jacket with a red vertical stripe down the side. He was riding a black, drop-handlebar bike.
The cyclist was found unconscious at the scene and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital. According to a police statement late on Thursday night (March 21) the cyclist remained "in a critical condition" at the hospital.
The police spokesman added: "Anyone who saw the pedal cyclist or the blue Jaguar or hopefully the accident itself can contact PC Mark Lee at the road policing unit at Blackpool on 293933.
