DARWEN manager Steve Wilkes has warned his players not to be complacent as they head to bottom-of-the-league Castleton Gabriels tomorrow.
Castleton have announced their decision to drop out of the league at the end of the season and, after five wins on the bounce, it is expected that Steve Wilkes's side will win easily. But Wilkes knows football is not always like that.
"Everyone will expect us to win but look at Man City at Stockport on Tuesday night. Everyone thought they'd win there but they didn't."
Andy Walsh was approached by Kendal Town - the UniBond first division club that tried to sign him permanently last month - who asked him to play for them this Saturday as a one-off.
Wilkes agreed but the player said no because he didn't want to lose his place in the Darwen side.
Denny Khan is away on a stag weekend so Scott Derbyshire and Scott Grundy will come into the side and Wilkes may recall himself.
"They're bottom of the league and we are having a decent run but they are packing it in at the end of the season so they have nothing to lose," he said.
"We just need to keep getting three points and see where it takes us.
"I don't think we'll catch Alsager now but we might be able to finish in the top three or four. I'd be delighted with that.
"I am just sorry we have thrown away so many silly points. We have only lost two games since November and they were against Stand. There is a massive gap but all we can do is keep winning."
