EXTRA time failed to determine an outright winner in the Redwaters Coronation Cup quarter-final with Royal Oak eventually winning through 5-3 on penalties against Rope and Anchor.
The two had finished all square on 2-2 at the end of 90 minutes, Jamie Munro and Jason Huyton scoring for Oak and Ryan Shaw getting both for Rope. Stuart Gaskell scored in the first minute of extra time for the home side only for Steve Harris to level on 96 minutes.
Howe Bridge Mills coasted into round two of the Sharman Cup with a 8-2 victory over Horns Inn. John Cassidy led the way with five goals, Dave Gibson, David Sizer and Paul Mee all getting one. Horns, two goals both came from Andy Tipping.
The semi-final also turned out to be a one-sided affair with Courts hammering Atherton Royal 6-0. Matt Disley netted a hat-trick with Anthony Davey, Steven Wood and Tony Boardman also on the scoresheet.
Kersal Vale moved ever closer to securing the Division One title in their first season in the league with a 6-1 thumping away win at Limelight. Hotshot John Smith scored four to take his season tally to 36 with John Rafferty also on the mark and Matt Pollard putting through his own net. Limelight's goal at the right end was scored by Gary Renshaw.
Higher Folds' topsy-turvy form continued in a 3-1 home defeat by second in the table Moonraker. Scott Mulcrow with two and Dean Pitchford with one set Moonraker up to resist a late rally from the defending champions after Neil Clayton had got a goal back on 70 minutes. Andy Turner (2), Neil Unsworth and Dave Gibson saw Three Crowns A to a 4-1 away win at Fir Tree Rangers, Danny Rushworth getting a 87th minute consolation goal.
Four goals from Gary Nugent including the winner on 88 minutes saw Asda Golborne to a 4-3 home win over Concert Inn. A Barry Tranter own goal, Shaun Campbell and Stuart Hughes were listed for the losers.
