GREEN volunteers are working hard to bring an Astley pond back to life.
After years of neglect, a major clean-up campaign has begun at the pond on The Ley combining the efforts of Wigan Council's Parks Service, the borough's Green Spaces Conservation Volunteers and the Probation Service.
Safeguard
Anne Cockram, Wigan Council's Parks Community Liaison Officer said: "The Parks team will work with locals to safeguard this little wildlife area. We've been delighted at the response of residents and will support them in keeping this a special green space."
Anyone interested in joining the Green Spaces Conservation Volunteers Groups should call 01942 716700 and those wanting to help the Ley project can contact Anne on 01942 404850.
