GOLDEN couple Mavis and Harry Kinney had something to sing about when they celebrated their wedding anniversary.
Mavis, 71, and Harry, 72, toasted their 50 years together with a family bash at St Paul's Working Men's Club, Montague Street, Blackburn.
And Mavis did what does best -- burst into song. The former mill weaver is a keen fan of the karaoke and the party gave her the chance to take centre stage.
Daughter Maureen said: "Mum has always loved singing."
Harry, born in Belfast, was an engineer at Platt's, Accrington, and was also a steward at Blackburn Rovers every Saturday for 32 years.
They met 55 years ago at the dance hall in Preston New Road.
Mavis said: "We saw each other across a crowded ball room where we both used to go dancing with friends.
"It was very romantic and we are still just as happy all these years on."
The couple had a joint wedding at St Ann's Church, Blackburn, on March 15 1952 with Mavis's older sister, Madeline, and husband Bert Howarth, who used to live in Peter Street, Blackburn.
Mavis added: "I would have loved Madeline to have been at the party but she sadly passed away two years ago."
Harry and Mavis have two daughters, five grand children and one great-grandchild, who were all at the party.
