RESIDENTS in the Wigan area are being warned to be on the look out for potentially lethal upholstered furniture after a raid at an Atherton warehouse.
Trading standards tested a fake leather sofa and chair and found that neither met flammable or labelling requirements.
They believe the furniture was destined for sale, probably door-to-door, in the Wigan area.
Chief Trading Standards officer Alan Blundell said: "Any upholstered furniture that does not comply with safety ergulations is a potential killer.
"All new suites are required to carry labels indictaing compliance with safety standards - look for these before you buy."
